🌟 Foodie Spotlight

If you love the old-school dim sum vibes, today’s spotlight is…

Red Star Restaurant @ Chinatown!

Walking into Red Star feels like time-travel. Traditional red carpets, big round tables, and the OG push-cart dim sum service. Yup, they still wheel the trolleys right to your table like it’s the 70s.

I had the char siew bao (super fluffy), steamed pork ribs, and egg tarts. Everything was nice and hot and packed with flavour. It’s loud, it’s nostalgic, and it’s got that old-school charm that’s hard to find in dim sum places these days.

This is for real a great weekend spot for the family, get kids involved, and order way too much yet not regret a single bite.

šŸ–ļø Sum Other Picks of The Week!

While these are my top picks, I’d love to hear yours by replying to the email with your favourite places for me to try!

Kuai San Dian Xin @ Various Locations (Link) 🄢

If you're craving a budget dim sum fix at 2am, this is your spot. Open 24/7, Kuai San keeps it simple with siew mai, chee cheong fun, and lotus leaf rice starting from just $1.50 a plate. Great for late-night hangs or a quick bite when you're on the go!

Ji Tuo Dim Sum @ Bukit Batok šŸš

A wholesome family-run stall that’s all heart. Ji Tuo’s Hong Kong-style dim sum hits the spot, especially their har gao and fried carrot cake. No-frills, comforting, and located right by the park so you can stroll off your food coma.

Swee Choon Tim Sum @ Jalan Besar šŸŒ™

You haven’t done supper right until you’ve been to Swee Choon past midnight. Mee sua kueh and salted egg custard buns are must-orders. It’s got that late-night energy, lots of variety, and still pretty wallet-friendly for its fame!

Wah Lok @ Carlton Hotel šŸŽ©

This one’s where you dress up a bit. Wah Lok’s upscale vibe and polished classics like har gao and baked char siew bao make it ideal for a fancy brunch or a treat-yourself kind of weekend. Definitely book ahead!

Yan Ting @ St. Regis (Orchard area) šŸ¾

Dim sum, but make it luxurious. Yan Ting serves lobster dumplings, foie gras xiao long bao, and top-tier service in a plush setting. Save this for birthdays, anniversaries, or when you just want to impress.

šŸ—žļø What’s Newsworthy

In case you missed the newsletter last week, Singapore Food Festival is coming back this September!

If you’re anything like me, I hope your calendar’s already marked. The theme this year is ā€œHave You Eaten Yet?ā€. Tbh, that’s the most Singaporean way to start a food fest šŸ˜‚

Expect pop-ups, chef collabs, hawker spotlights, and plenty of IG-worthy bites across the island. I’ll keep you posted as more details roll in, so you don’t miss the best eats when it kicks off in September!
