š„ BBQ Box (Geylang)
The perfect late-night supper spot for when youāre feeling peckish but also donāt want to stuff yourself crazy. Open till 2am daily, BBQ Box is a casual Chinese restaurant that specialises in all things skewers and even wok-cooked dishes you often see in a Zi Char restaurant.
The Mala Chicken Mid-Joint Wings are a knockout - crisp skin dusted with numbing spice, juicy inside, and the kind of heat that makes you reach for your drink, then go back for another bite. The Grilled Bread is a must-have: golden on the outside, fluffy inside, and perfect for soaking up all those smoky, spicy flavours. We also loved the cumin-scented lamb skewers and spicy grilled fish for sharing.
BBQ Box is still celebrating Singaporeās 60th with its Orleans Chicken Skewers going at only 60 cents, till 31 August.

While these are my top picks, Iād love to hear yours by replying to the email with your favourite places for me to try!
š½ļø RK Eating House @ Serangoon Gardens (Link)
A famous late-night spot for crispy, fluffy prata and over-the-top creations like the towering plastered cheese and egg āTissue Prata.ā I would go for their Maggi Goreng, murtabak, and even the RK Special: plain prata drenched in mutton curry and loaded with eggs, chicken and mutton (yum!)

š„ Jojiās Diner @ Upper Serangoon (Link)
Step into a Riverdale episode with checkered floors, neon jukebox lights, and cosy booths. Jojiās Diner is known for their hearty, diner-style plates like the All-Star Plates and Morning Wood (Bratwursts and mashed potatoes btw). Milkshakes come thick and creamy, best enjoyed with fries on the side. They are open 24 hours daily!

š Retro, Hearty, Family-friendly
š Balestier Bak Kut Teh @ Balestier (Link)
A heritage name serving peppery Teochew-style Bak Kut Teh since the 1960s. You definitely have to try the Premium Loin Ribs, they are so tender, and the BKT soup deeply peppery and aromatic. Spicy Pork Trotters and other sides are sure to add a little more kick to your meal. Open 24 hours daily too!

š¶ļø Wan Xing Mala Hotpot @ Upper Serangoon (Link)
A little North-Eastie biased this edition (is it because of the recent train disruption š¤) but Wan Xing requires no introduction. Just think of Mala Xiangguo with actual spice and umami-ness. Portions are generous, and the wok hei aroma hits the second your bowl arrives.

šļø Whatās Newsworthy
Singaporeās dining scene has a new after-dark obsession - supper clubs. These are intimate, reservation-only dining experiences, often hosted in private homes or hidden venues, where chefs serve multi-course menus that blend storytelling, seasonal ingredients, and personal flair.
From Poonās Supper Clubās modern take on Cantonese heritage dishes, to Senang Supper Clubās locally inspired plates served in a cosy communal setting, each offers something different from traditional restaurants. Theyāre about connection as much as cuisine, often with just 8-20 seats per night and offered on a ticket / reservation basis.
Itās a growing trend for diners seeking exclusivity, conversation, and a taste of the unexpected.

š„³ Thatās a Wrap!
