🌟 Foodie Spotlight

Catch a refreshing, cool dessert after a shopping adventure with…

Four Beans @ Various locations!

Step into Four Beans and you’re greeted by a clean, modern dessert bar vibe - bright lights, wooden tables, and an irresistible spread of toppings. It’s a fresh take on tau huay and other Chinese desserts that still keeps things comforting.

We had the Da Hong Pao tea shaved ice, topped with taro balls, grass jelly, and pearls - light, smooth, and just sweet enough. The chewy toppings add a nice contrast, and the shaved ice alone was so smooth and creamy.

Perfect for winding down after a JB food crawl or as a mid-day treat, Four Beans is simple and satisfying.

🖐️ Top Meal Recommendations for a Day in JB!

While these are my top picks, I’d love to hear yours by replying to the email with your favourite places for me to try!

🥟 Pin Ming Xuan (Dim Sum) @ Taman Century Garden (Link)

Popular with locals and Singaporeans alike, Pin Ming Xuan dishes out classic dim sum in a spacious, air-conditioned kopitiam setting. From silky chee cheong fun to crispy fried prawn rolls, portions are generous and prices start around RM4. My personal favourite was the Braised Chicken Feet, so soft! Come early - it gets packed fast, especially on weekends!

⭐️ 4.3 (1,800 reviews)
👍 Affordable, Classic, Crowded

🍵 Keijometo (Japanese-Western fusion cafe) @ Taman Melodies (Link)

Keijometo nails the moody, industrial-cool aesthetic with its cement interiors and matcha-heavy Japanese menu. Come for the thick tamago sandos and miso carbonara udon, stay for the house-made matcha lattes and burnt cheesecake. Great for a slow afternoon or quick brunch hang before shopping.

⭐️ 4.2 (1,304 reviews)
👍 Aesthetic, Matcha lovers, Chill

🦐 Dai Tao Lala Pot @ Taman Mount Austin (Link)

Lala lovers, this one’s for you. Dai Tao Lala Pot specialises in bubbling hotpots packed with clams, pork, and umami-rich broth that hits the spot. The lala soup is a must-have - sweet, briny, and slurp-worthy. Best enjoyed with an additional serving of sliced pork in the soup, and good company.

⭐️ 4.1 (674 reviews)
👍 Feast, Comforting, Large Groups

🍢 Bro Loklok @ Taman Mount Austin (Link)

No JB trip is complete without a lok lok supper, and Bro Loklok delivers with variety and vibes. Choose from dozens of skewers - meat, seafood, veg - then deep fry or boil to your liking. Don’t skip the sauces; their signature satay-style dip is addictive. Cheap, cheerful, and open till 2am every day (except Wednesday)!

⭐️ 4.3 (520 reviews)
👍 Wide Variety, Authentic Flavours, Nostalgic

🗞️ What’s Newsworthy

Beyond the incredible food scene, JB also offers plenty of ways to relax and recharge. That’s why we’re shining the spotlight on something a little more therapeutic and snooze-worthy.

38°C Onsen Spa in Mount Austin is a must-visit for anyone looking to unwind. This Japanese-inspired onsen experience includes a private hot bath, soothing foot soak, kimono dressing, delicious desserts, and a 60-minute massage designed to ease tension and boost circulation.

Slightly on the pricier side, their 2.5-hour packages start at RM398 per person. Conveniently located in Akademik Suite, Taman Mount Austin, it’s just a short ride from some of the top food spots we’ve recommended!

  • 📆 Price Range: RM398 for 1 pax, RM599 for 2 pax, from RM749 per family (up to 5 pax)

  • 📍 Locations: Akademik Suite, Blok A #G-05, Jalan Austin Heights Utama, Taman Mount Austin, 81100 Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia; 15-01 Jalan Perjiranan 4/6 Bandar Dato Onn 81100 Johor Bahru, Bandar Dato Onn, 81100 Johor, Malaysia
